The Power Within

Personal Development

Very short post today, one of my favorite quotes comes from the late Jamaican reggae singer (and dope-smoking Rastafarian) Bob Marley…

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery…
None but ourselves can free our minds.”

I leave it to your mind to determine what this means to you…

Rob

This is from lyrics for “Redemption Song”. Marley’s album Legend – The Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers is my #1 all-time album. Highly recommended…

    Rob,

Not only true power is indeed within, not without, but its strength also lies in its subtlety.

    Rob,

Any Marley Quote is a good quote, thanks for the opportunity to ponder.

We can all be prisoners of our own thought, beliefs and ideas.

Do I detect a theme about the need to take responsibility for our own life? Not just responsibility, proactive is another factor in personal development.

Great quote. I like the message. I suppose one could argue smoking dope is somehow an enslavement of the mind though (or the body).

    All the best,

    Rob,

He was dead on with that one….do you suppose that most are waiting for someone or something to change their minds for them?

    Thanks

    Rob,

Interesting that you posted that quote from Bob Marley. When I was in Jamaica and went to his tomb the Rastafarian guide we had quoted the same quote while smoking dope on our tour right in front of us.

Great post for all of us. Spent many years travelling to Kingston, Jamaica for work. Marley definitely was not a rastafarian, a mix-up he hated, but the world never got the distinction. An excellent quote.

    Rob,
That quote reminds me of a quote from Morpheus in the Matrix when he was attempting to get Neo to do the roof jump. He says something like, “You’ve got to let it all go, Neo; fear, doubt, disbelief. Free your mind!” Then Morpheus goes on to jump about 100 feet from one skyscraper rooftop to another, demonstrating that all things are possible for those that can free their minds and believe.

Rob, Good quote before 4/20. For those that do not know that is, it when all the pot smokers in the country smoke weed at 4/20 on 4/20. I know this because every 4/20, my ice cream store by Colorado University sets franchise wide sales records. I love Reggae and especially Bob Marley. Mark

Cool quote. Really got me thinking. I wonder if he left a will, and if so, who got all his dope?
