Even if you are single, this is a good thing to do. When I was gacing surgery, I did my will, living will, power of attorney and the lists of above, plus a list of anyone who I would want her to call if anything happened to me. She was SO grateful. It was..uh…icky …to do. But I was so relieved once it was done, and every year as I get older I am just happier that it is DONE>

Just do it – prepare it – and THEN give it to her. Lead. (please oh please!) Really, she will be grateful and feel cherished by you later that you DID. Of course she doesn’t like to talk about that possibility. Who would? Women, we have estrogen hormones that often makes us more feelers. Just, we are. Doesn’t mean the feeling has to rule things. Just cherish our feelings… and lead.

Rob, GREAT GREAT GREAT point. I still find things of my late husband’s that were just all over the place. Trying to collect our thoughts and find such things when the veil of grief has befuddled our brains (think choice overwhelm) is NOT the time to have to think, where are such items?

It is a LOVING ACT to do so.

Rob – GREAT advice not only for spouses and significant others but also for elderly parents for their children. I am the executrix of my mom’s estate. She lives in PA and I am in TX. The other day out of the blue she sent me a 5 page list of every account/location/contact person who I will need to take care of her estate. Talk about a huge GIFT!!! This will save me hours of headaches and aggrevation when that awful – but inevitable – time comes.
