The envious hordes want your assets…and sue-happy lawyers are out to help them out as much as they can.

My favorite disclaimer comes at the beginning the show “South Park” Some people consider it lewd, crude and obnoxious. But they can laugh at themselves. Their disclaimer says:

“All characters and events in this show –even those based on real people– are entirely fictional. All celebrity voices are impersonated … poorly. The following program contains coarse language and due to its content it should not be viewed by anyone.”

Rob,

I am pondering the fact of whether a disclaimer matters. Placed at the bottom, gee I didn’t read that far. Placed at the top, I am turned off before I get to your stuff. Placed in the middle, didn’t see it. Seems like legal advice even though you say you are not a lawyer. I am going to sue you because you look rich in your picture.

What I am trying to say is that disclaimers may or may not work. Contracts may or may not protect you. If you are successful, hungry sharks (oh did I say that, I meant lawyers) will find a way to sue you and if the judge got bit by the dog on the day that he decides your case, you may lose even if you have the best disclaimer or contract in the world.

My point is the only way you can truly win in a lawsuit is to not be named a defendant. If your entity (corporation or LLC) has taken all of the correct steps including buying Corporate Veil Pro to have the most updated records as possible then you the person will not be party to the lawsuit or will be dismissed on motion right away. It will only be the entity that will be sued and at risk.

PS: I think that the “Intuitive John” moniker is excellent and it is memorable in a good way. If it were me, I would use that site. For mow, you can setup the IntuitiveJohn site, get it working , and then just reidrect all the traffic from your name site to the IJ site…
